HELLO, We’re

Our mission is to reinvent our streets around people, not cars.

Getting around our city and region should not be a dangerous chore that requires getting behind the wheel of a car and battling traffic, navigating a dysfunctional transit system, or risking injury or death as you walk or cycle.

We envision a city where getting around is a joy: a quick ride on a bus that comes every few minutes, a safe, stress-free bike ride through fresh clean air, or a walk filled with the pleasant sights and sounds of the city.

We need to rethink how we use our public streets to improve more sustainable forms of transportation. We need more transit-only lanes that allow buses and streetcars to bypass traffic, more safe biking routes so that everyone from ages 8 to 80 feels comfortable riding down the street, and sidewalks and streets crossings that are safe, pleasant, and accessible to all.

None of this requires significant amounts of money, but it does require the political courage to take on those who are more interested in maintaining the inequitable status quo than living up to the progressive ideals our city and region are known for. We are here to support our elected officials and decision makers when they do live up to those ideals, and hold them accountable when they don't.

As urbanists, we also recognize that housing and transportation are two sides of the same coin. Population density drives the use of sustainable transportation, and sustainable transportation enables people to live at higher densities. We believe that our city and region should have abundant and affordable housing, a world-class transportation system, and should welcome everyone who wants to live here. As such, we are part of the YIMBY Action network of activists, and we support their mission to bring more housing to our cities.
